How did you get started and what should people expect out of a Nicole Noire DJ set?
I started out with a few gigs in the Rio Grande Valley in 2012 at Metropolis (our goth club) in McAllen when I lived there. I eventually moved to San Antonio in 2015 where I guest djed at several goth/industrial nights and private fetish clubs in San Antonio and Austin.
In 2017, I created my own production/party known as Blacklisted. Blacklisted was a dark electro/industrial/EBM dance night mixed with Fetish and burlesque performances.
Fast forward to May 2020, I teamed up as a resident DJ/promoter partner with Damon Allen of Bewitched. If you haven’t checked out our events it’s definitely worth it. I haven’t been to any other events like ours in San Antonio. Follow @bewitched_satx if you haven’t already. We have a lot of cool events coming up.
When I DJ, you can expect to hear a range of industrial, EBM, and dark electro mixed with the classics.
Influences?
I am influenced by Tamara Sky of Lil Death. She’s a great mixer and has such great taste in music. It’s also very inspiring to see women behind the decks!
I am also highly influenced by Sam of Randolph & Mortimer. You should listen to his DJ mixes and his music if you haven’t yet. Highly underrated. Sarin is another influence. I’ve seen him DJ before, and actually I got the opportunity to spin with him in LA a few years ago. Such a great industrial artist!
What are you listening to right now?
Lately, I’ve been listening to a lot of up and coming acts such as NNHMN, Minuit Machine, Sexual Purity, Randolph & Mortimer, Years of Denial, Fractions, Schwefelgelb, Pixel Grip, Geneva Jacuzzi, Cardopusher, Tzusing, and the classic stuff such as Nitzer Ebb, Nine Inch Nails, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult.
